2025 September newsletter

We hope your autumn is off to a great start. At NitroVolt, we’ve been busy testing, stress-testing… and yes, also making room for a little fun.

As we prepare for our 5 kg/day demo unit to be placed on a farm, we’ve begun stress testing of the system and chemistry. Below you’ll spot our NitroElectroChemist, Olivia, proudly introducing the “NitroSheep”: our insulated setup for exploring how temperature affects performance. The good news? Our chemistry not only behaves well at higher temperatures, but the kinetics actually improve. Translation: on a warm sunny day, our system will produce even more ammonia. We like science that loves sunshine!

Our NitroCEO, Suzanne, headed to Malmö for The Drop, a climate-focused event that made one thing crystal clear: VC hype cycles are shifting. Last year, climate-tech was the “popular kid,” but this year, the buzz has moved to Defense and AI. Meanwhile, the climate crisis hasn’t exactly packed up and gone home. It’s more urgent than ever.

What stood out at The Drop was how climate funds are broadening the definition of “climate-tech” to keep capital flowing. We think this is smart. The “green premium” is gone, and only solutions that can compete at price parity will scale. But reaching parity takes time, learning curves, and economies of scale, and that critical gap is exactly where VC support must step up. At NitroVolt, we’re working every day to do our part.

Of course, it’s not all lab coats and flow cells. This month we also held our quarterly NitroEvent: dinner followed by a lively game of pétanque. There were plenty of laughs, a fair share of pastis, and a winning team made up of our newest NitroEmployees: Ole (Head of NitroBusiness), Freja (NitroLab Manager), and Nick (Chemical NitroEngineer).

Talk about making an entrance!

We look forward to sharing more exciting updates next month, so stay tuned

Best regards,

The NitroTeam
